How to Be Saved
At some point in life, every person asks the same question.
Is there more than this?
Is there a way to be right with God?
The Bible tells us there is.
God created you. He loves you. He is not distant or cold. He is holy, and He is good. But there is a problem. Sin separates us from Him.
Romans 3:23 says, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
Sin is not only the big obvious failures. It is pride, selfishness, anger, rebellion, and living life apart from God. Every one of us has done it.
Sin brings spiritual death. Romans 6:23 says, “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Here is the good news.
God did not leave us in our sin. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus lived a sinless life. He went to the cross willingly. He shed His blood to pay for your sin. He died, was buried, and on the third day He rose again.
Romans 5:8 says, “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Salvation is not something you earn. You cannot work for it. You cannot clean yourself up enough to deserve it.
Ephesians 2:8 says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. It is the gift of God, not of works.”
A gift must be received.
How do you receive salvation?
You repent. That means you turn from sin and turn toward God. You place your trust in Jesus Christ alone. You believe He died for you and rose again. You confess Him as Lord.
Romans 10:9 says, “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
This is not about religion. It is about relationship.
You can pray something like this:
Lord Jesus,
I know I have sinned.
I believe You died for me and rose again.
I turn from my sin and I place my trust in You.
Forgive me.
Wash me clean.
Be my Lord and Savior.
I give You my life.
Amen.
If you prayed that sincerely, salvation is not based on feelings. It is based on the promise of God.
